The story

ABH Optics has developed a novel type of eyeglass lens using cutting-edge nanotechnology, originating from DTU Health Tech's projects. With an exclusive IP license from DTU and based on extensive previous research funding from DTU, the Innovation Fund Denmark, and the EU, the company is poised to disrupt the traditional lens manufacturing process, which has remained largely unchanged for centuries.

The company's proprietary technology allows for easy customization of lenses, addressing both optical power and structural defects. The result is a product line of ultra-thin, lightweight, and environmentally friendly lenses that reduce plastic usage. ABH Optics targets the 13% of eyeglass wearers with prescriptions exceeding +/- 4 dioptres, who will greatly benefit from the new lens technology.

  • ABH Optics, a pioneer in the eyewear industry, secures €1 million pre-seed funding from HTGF for Groundbreaking Meta Optics Lenses.
  • Developed at DTU, ABH Optics' individualized meta-optic lenses offer unparalleled precision and efficiency.
  • The company’s lenses, even for strong prescriptions up to +/-20 diopters, will be only 1 mm thick.

THE TECHNOLOGY

We have replaced the ordinary coatings on the lenses with our smart coating.

The lens is laser printed in the smart coating.

The benefits

ABH Optics' lenses all have the same thickness and weight, because the actual lens is only one micrometer thick. For mechanical reasons, the lenses have to be between 1.5 and 2 millimeter thick.

For lenses with a power larger than four our lenses are significantly thinner and lighter than ordinary lenses. This means that they:

  • Are more comfortable
  • Has a more attractive look
  • Gives you a free choice of frames
  • Reduces CO2 emission
  • At equivalent prices
